Yes!

With the release of Exchange 2007, the Exchange server design has changed and no longer supports MAPI connectors as had been previously implemented.  This means that the Exchange Connector option available for FAXserve will not work.  However, Exchange Server does support delivery of messages of various address types using custom virtual SMTP gateways.

In conjunction with our SMTP gateway option available for FAXserve, the same type of integration that was available with earlier versions of Exchange is possible allowing email to fax and fax to email from any Exchange client using a gateway connected to your Exchange Server.

If you are in the process of upgrading your Exchange Server from 2000 or 2003 to 2007, please contact our sales department for upgrading to our SMTP gateway option.

The default configuration for the SMTP gateway sink object is to accept outbound messages for the faxserve.local domain with a default mediatype set to fax.  If you want the SMTP gateway to trigger an event sink for other domains on the server in question, you can add your local domain by adding to the registry:

HKLM\2Point\Messenger\smtpdom\<new domain name key>
Within, a DWORD named MediaType with a value of 2 (indicating fax as default)

If you select to forward Business Fax type addresses, Exchange will SMTP encapsulate the address with an IMCEAFAX address syntax and the SMTP gateway will pick it up. To detect IMCEAFAX, use the following patch for the sink object.

Add a Send Connector of type "FAX" in Exchange Server 2007 for use with the SMTP gateway in Messenger 8.1 and above.
  1. Open Exchange Management Shell from Start -> Programs -> Microsoft Exchange 2007.

  2. In the console enter the following:
new-sendConnector <name of connector> -DnsRoutingEnabled:$false Smarthosts:<IP of machine where the Messenger SMTP gateway is installed>

    For Example:
    new-sendConnector FAX  -DnsRoutingEnabled:$false Smarthosts:192.168.1.199

  3. Press enter and when prompted for AddressSpaces[0]: type in:
    FAX:*

  4. Press enter twice.

  5. Open the Exchange Management Console -> Organization configuration -> Hub Transport -> Send Connector tab in order to view the connector created from Exchange Management Shell.

If you are on both our 'priority' support -and- UPP maintenance plans, ask your account manager about getting on our version 9 beta which has a native Exchange 2007/2010 hub transport.
